Artist’s Statement, 2017. I sketched continuously, from a very early age, and was lucky enough to attend the High School of Music and Art, where I was an Art Major. I then majored in art at the University of Miami for a year. My pursuit of a higher education in art was interrupted to raise a family, and when I finally went back to school to get further degrees- they were in Mathematics and Computer science, which led me to a very varied business career. For the last fifteen years I have returned to art and worked full-time as a sculptor. At the start I sculpted from life - figurative and portraiture. It was my objective to capture the drama and emotion of my subjects. For the last six years, I have been working in abstract and am exploring sculpture in an entirely different way. I find it very thought provoking and exciting to work with new materials, form, shadow, and color in a way I had not before. My work is very geometric and architectural, often reflecting the urban environment in which I live.
